Lighting Beacons for 2025

We are inviting you to join with others around the world in our lighting of Beacons for World Harmony on Winter Solstice during the darkest days in December.

The winter solstice in the UK will occur at 3:03 PM GMT on Sunday December 21, 2025.

This moment marks the shortest day and longest night of the year in the northern hemisphere. To mark the occasion we will be holding a couple of Campfire Zoom sessions, including a soft launch of the Beacon lighting website at 19:30 on Saturday December 20th, which will then evolve into a creative exchange of ideas - a chance for each of us to share words, music or other creative inspiration.

Join us on Saturday evening as we lights Beacons for World Harmony.  Zoom link for 19:30

The Beacon concept is all about bringing communities together face-to-face, to bring about connection, to shine a light for a collective manifestation around world harmony and peace. This might be around specific conflict zones, a need for a ceasefire or termination of other hostilities - or wider change.

Your Beacon might be a one off gathering around a fire or it might be a gesture around a lighting of a candle. It might be a community forming to establish common ground, identify areas where change is needed and frameworks to carry out those actions, or to trailblaze new directions, values and principles. Or just be an opportunity to get together and make friends with neighbours.

The Winter Solstice is a time for reflection and hibernation, of facing the darkness physically and metaphorically. It is of things dying and the knowledge that the world will burst into life again come spring. It is about acceptance, nurturing and planning what seeds need to be sown when the darkness passes. Saturday is also a New Moon, so is timely.

New moons represent an opportunity to set intentions. Ashley Neese says "New moons represent the beginning of a cycle and the full moon represents a clearing or release.

In farming traditions the new moon is the time when the soil is most fertile and wet. Many farmers and gardeners plants seeds on the new moon as the moon’s lunar gravity pulls water up. The new moon is considered a growth phase and is an ideal time to plant seeds in our gardens as well as our hearts for the future. The new moon is an invitation to start fresh, call in intentions, and set the tone for the next cycle.

Asking the universe for what you want is a very powerful practice. Combine asking for what you want with the clean slate of the new moon and you have a potent recipe for creating the vision you most desire. The new moon offers an energizing and exciting time to recalibrate your energy for the upcoming cycle and bring a upgraded level of consciousness to the dreams you long to make a reality."

On Sunday December 21st at 10:30am we will hold our regular Campfire Zoom, where we check in and set our intentions for change. Join us here from 10:25am UK.

A Word Up! creative writing session and a Campfire Music Selector session will follow.

The original Beacons idea started on the island of Paros in Greece and is spreading like gentle wildfire.

It’s time to reclaim the meaning of Beacons.
For too long they’ve been lit only for royal occasions, anniversaries and ceremonial rituals.
But Beacons belong to the people — to all of us.

We’re inviting communities everywhere to ignite their own local Beacons as:

  1. Signals of connection — moments of recognition, celebration and coming together.
  2. Symbols of our shared longing for harmony, peace and understanding across the world.
  3. Points of focus that bring light, unity and common ground beyond beliefs, borders and prejudice.
  4. Sparks of possibility — for new local bonds and global resonance.

What Beacons Are About:

Local Communities

We invite you to gather friends, neighbours and fellow seekers — and create your own local Beacon.
Your meet-ups may happen online or in person. They might pioneer new ideas, values and directions, or simply offer a warm space for people to talk, listen and reconnect. Every Beacon will have its own spirit, its own membership, and its own unique intentions.

Beacons of Connection

We light Beacons at solstices, equinoxes and other natural thresholds to honour connection, liberation and world harmony.
By infusing these moments with collective intention, we synchronise a positive vibration worldwide — nurturing local hubs that can inspire real change.

Local Manifestations

Beacon gatherings, held on meaningful dates rooted in natural cycles, act as catalysts for in-person connection. They help communities transcend division, rediscover shared humanity and spark conversations that move us beyond outmoded structures of separation and oppression.

Trailblazers

A Beacon is a light through darkness — a guide toward safe havens and expanded consciousness. Whether it’s a fire in a garden, a field or a single candle in someone’s home, online and real-world Beacons work together to welcome more openness, courage and an expanded consciousness based around love.
